Playing around with costumes

Today we were arranged a costume test for our models. Unfortunately, two of them couldn't attend so we managed to convince a couple of other girls to stand in.

With our main singer, Juli, we tried a number of outfits, but eventually went with the last one given its distinct look to all the other costumes. We felt that the fluffy green jacket suited her look and gave her a certain air of authority, which then combined with the matching green trousers gave her an aesthetically pleasing outfit which stood out from the other girls'. We feel that shoes-wise, she will be wearing black trainers, hair-wise, we will create a slicked back bobbled pony tail, and jewellery-wise, she will wear a black choker around her neck, lots of silver rings upon her fingers, and large silver hoops in her ears.

Whilst we loved Charlotte's first outfit, we felt like it was simply 'too cute' for the look we were going for, and disliked how it stuck out amongst all the other costumes. Consequently, we tried on a costume we had originally planned for Juli to have which suited much better. We will accessorise this costume with ripped tights, heavy makeup and a nose ring. The double plaits, however, are an effective hairstyle which we will keep.

Whilst we loved Louisa's original outfit, it made her look like the main singer in the group and so consequently, we swapped it so that it became Juli's costume. Louisa's new outfit consisted of a silver skirt and black crop top. The look was simple and effective and fits well with the rest of the group, but we are going to play with the idea of giving her a silver jacket to go on top. We plan to tie her hair into space buns.

Our friend Fleur stood in for our actor Tori, given how she was busy. Whilst much smaller than our actual model, the dress looks good and none of us have an issue with it. We plan to accessorise the costume with fishnet tights and a plethora of big bracelets.

Ellie stood in for Emma, but we decided the costume simply didn't work. The skirt clashed with Tori's dress, and the top was unflattering. Consequently, we decided to put her in the transparent green mesh 'kimono' that Juli originally tried on, with a black crop top and denim skirt underneath.

We took group photos to see what the group looked like together in their costumes. Whilst the photo above doesn't look bad, Charlotte and Ellie are noticeably 'cuter' than the other girls, which is not the look we are going for. Although the bottom photo doesn't have our final costumes in, we feel like it gives a much better idea of the look and costumes we hope to achieve.
